Fisheries Day 2025

Every year, Egmond aan Zee celebrates its maritime heritage on a Saturday in June during the Fisheries Day. Around the Pompplein, the village’s fishing history comes to life with music, traditional crafts, and of course, delicious fish dishes. A day full of nostalgia, stories, and maritime traditions!

What can you expect at the Fishing Day?

• Historical Demonstrations: Watch as old fishing techniques and crafts, such as net mending and rope making, are still honoured today.
• Musical Performances: Enjoy live music from a shanty choir and other artists performing maritime songs along the promenade and the beach.
• Culinary Delights: Taste the flavours of the sea with freshly prepared fish dishes. From kibbeling to smoked eel, there’s something for every seafood lover.
• View from the Lighthouse: Climb the lighthouse and enjoy the beautiful views of the North Sea and the coastline of Egmond.
• Tall Tales & Fishermen’s Lingo: Listen to the tall tales of old fishermen about storms, shipwrecks, and rescues that have shaped the history of Egmond aan Zee.
• Fun Activities for All Ages: For children, there are treasure hunts, crafts, and games where they can playfully learn about the fishermen’s life of the past.
• Commemorative Service: The evening before Fishing Day, at 7:00 PM, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the fishermen’s monument. A moment of reflection and tribute to the fishermen who have lost their lives at sea over the centuries.
