Bunker Museum Jansje Schong

Bunkermuseum Jansje Schong in Egmond aan Zee is a small Second World War museum inside a restored German Atlantic Wall munitions bunker. It is run by Stichting Egmond '40-'45.
What can you expect at Bunkermuseum Jansje Schong?
- History: After the war the defences near Egmond were bricked up and buried under sand. In July 2014 the bunker was dug out after some 67 years, and the museum opened in 2016. It is named after Jansje Schong; the exhibition tells her family's war story.
- Exhibition: In two rooms and a film room you see wreckage of downed aircraft, a bayonet collection and footage of young German prisoners of war clearing mines after the war. Short films let Egmond residents share their war experiences.
- Highlights: Highlights of the bunker museum are:
- Parts of the Dam Busters Lancaster A for Apple, which crashed off Castricum.
- A window shutter from Hitler's Berghof, with burn marks and melted camouflage netting.
- Original German beach obstacles from Egmond beach.
- The bunker itself, with Piet Zwart's 1947 signature on the wall.
